ITHACA, N.Y. – Junior Chris Long (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) led eight winners for the Lock Haven University track and field teams, hitting an NCAA Provisional Qualfying distance in the javelin at the Big Red Outdoor Invitational, hosted by Cornell University yesterday (May 1).

Long threw a 196-foot-2, over 10 feet longer then his prior season best. His NCAA mark is the sixth for the LHU men’s squad this season.

Classmate Tim Hite (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) ran a season-low 50.35 in the 400 meters for his victory, also joining Shawn Clancy (Hornell, N.Y./Hornell), Joe Wiegner (Ivyland, Pa./James Madison University) and Josh Taylor (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) for a win in the 4x400 relay, posting a 3:22.85.

Freshman Shawn Moore (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley) continues to impress, winning the 5,000 meters with a 15:40.55.

For the women’s side, freshman Nicole Kulp (Hatboro, Pa./William Tennent) lept her way to a win in the triple jump (18-feet-2 ¼). Classmate Kirsten Schuyler (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) was the other field champion for the Lady Eagles, taking first in the high jump at 5-feet-5.

Sophomore Maggie Borden (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) gave LHU a clean sweep of the women’s and men’s 400 meters, topping the field at 58.84. Classmate Mary Ewanich (Cornwall, N.Y./Cornwall) joined her in the winner’s circle with a season-best 1:05.00 in the 400-meter hurdles.

Long, Hite, Clancy, Wiegner, Taylor, Moore, Kulp, Schuyler, Borden, Ewanich and the rest of the LHU track and field teams wrap up their regular season at home as they host the annual LHU Qualifier, Sunday, May 8 at Hubert Jack Stadium.
