Lock Haven Women First, Men Sixth After Day Two

MANSFIELD, Pa. – Powered by a record-breaking Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship performance by Angela Kramer (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) in the pole vault, the Lock Haven University women’s track squad stands in first place at the PSAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by Mansfield University. With one day left for both teams, the men’s squad is sixth.

Kramer broke the championship record with a 11-foot-9 vault, giving her the title. Sarah Robertson (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) and Holly Bofinger (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) picked up points in the 10,000 meters, taking fourth and fifth places. Senior Sara McCleary (Rockton, Pa./DuBois) added a fourth-place finish in the high jump, while Nicole Kulp (Hatboro, Pa./William Tennent) and Bri Palazzi (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) earned fifth and sixth in the long jump.

The throwing events continued to provide a spark for the Lady Eagles, as they took three of the top six spots in the shot put. Junior Shelly Levy (Philadelphia/West Philadelphia) was third with a 44-fee-5.75 inch toss, while sophomore Ginger Williams (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and freshman Jen Andrews (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) placed fifth and sixth, respectively.

Rookie Amanda Reinmiller (Conyngham, Pa./Hazleton) took sixth in her first heptathlon, scoring 3,464 points. The Lady Eagles have 33 points, just a half point ahead of Slippery Rock University.

For the men’s side, the Bald Eagles have put together eight points, with Slippery Rock’s 32 points leading the way. SRU is followed by Shippensburg University, IUP, East Stroudsburg University, Kutztown University and Edinboro is just two points ahead of the Haven.

Sophomore Aaron Benson (Mt. Jewett, Pa./Kane Area) picked up a fourth-place finish in the 10,000 meters, with classmate Shawn Clancy (Hornell, N.Y./Hornell) matching that finish in the decathlon.

The LHU track and field teams compete in 31 events tomorrow, May 14 in the final day of the championships.
