COWAN WINS HEAT, ADVANCES
THROUGH TO 5000 METER FINALS
(Walnut, Calif.) - Lock Haven University of
Pennsylvania's Chris Cowan (Horseheads, N.Y./Thomas A.
Edison) won his heat and advanced to the finals of the
5000 meter race in action on Friday evening at the 2004
NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The Haven junior ran
a time of 14:45.42 to take first in his heat and rank
among the top 12 out of the entire field of 18 runners.
Cowan will
compete in the 5000 meter finals on Sat., May 29, at 6:37
p.m. (PST). Another Bald Eagle, Nick Slotterback
(Lewisburg/Lewisburg), will attempt to defend his
title in the javelin this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. (PST).
