LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
– After a successful weekend at the Penn State Open and the LHU Last Chance
Qualifier, the Lock Haven University Track and Field team grabbed all four
Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Athlete of the Week Honors.
Sophomore
Maggie Borden
(Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic)
made the most of the final meet of the regular season, earning wins in the
400 meters and both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. The sophomore sprinter
posted a 59.78 in the 400.
Fellow Sophomore
Ginger Williams (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake)
obliterated the 16-year old school record in the discus, spinning an LHU
Last Chance Qualifier-winning 147-feet to top the previous mark by 9-feet-6.
Her effort was good for an NCAA Provisional mark as well as the Hubert Jack
Stadium record.
For the men’s team, Senior
Joe
Wiegner (Ivyland, Pa./James Madison University)
won the 800 meters at the LHU Last Chance Qualifier, posting a 1:55.55. He
also ran a leg for the runner-up 4x400 relay.
Junior thrower
Fieldon Daubert
(Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleonia) met NCAA Provisional standards in the
javelin in consecutive days, Saturday at the Penn State Open and Sunday at
the LHU Last Chance Qualifier. Competing against Division I opponents at
Penn State, Daubert took third with a 199-foot-2 toss. One day later at LHU,
Daubert took third again with a 194-feet-10 ½.
Borden,
Williams, Wiegner, Daubert and the rest of the Bald Eagle tracksters will
participate in the PSAC Outdoor Championships at Mansfield University,
starting Thursday May 12 and running until Saturday May 14.
