(Lock Haven, Pa.) - The Lock Haven volleyball team swept Indiana ( Pa. ) University (12-5, 1-3 PSAC West), 3-0 (30-28, 33-31, 30-28), in three close games won by the deciding two-point margin.  The Lady Eagles jump to 14-1 overall and are now 4-0 in the PSAC Western Division.
Indiana took the early lead of the first game, but the Haven gained control and opened up a six-point cushion at 21-15.  Indiana would roll out a seven-point run to tie up the game at 24-24 then take back a two point advantage at 26-24.  Both teams battled to 28-28 before LHU took two straight to steal away the game one victory, 30-28.
The game two momentum flip-flopped until Indiana held on to a 28-25 lead.  Fighting back, the Lady Eagles managed to claw their way to 29-29 after a block by Lillian Bortoto ( Sao Paulo , Brazil / Campos Salles) and Amanda Snyder ( Portsmouth , Va. /Churchland). After a 30-30 tie, LHU went up 31-30 on a block by Cherry Li ( Shanghai , China ) and Snyder.  Indiana ’s Brittany Gates earned the kill to knot the game back up at 31-31, but LHU’s Snyder got a hit by the Indiana blockers for the 32-31 advantage.  An Indiana attack error on the very next play gave The Haven the final point for the game-two victory, 33-31.
A series of runs unfolded in the third game leading up to a tie at 22-22 before Indiana opened up a three-point cushion at 26-23.  Once again the perseverance of the Lady Eagle squad paved the way for the win, allowing them to claw back to a 27-27 tie on a kill by Bortoto.  Cherry Li’s solo block gave LHU game point at 29-27, then a kill by the freshman middle would close out the match, giving the Lady Eagles game three, 30-28, and the match.
Li and freshman Maggie Borden (Hanover/Delone Catholic) paced the LHU attack, each chipping in with 14 kills.  Amanda Snyder added 11 kills, while Allison Wade (Duncansville/Hollidaysburg) had 10 kills.  Snyder and Li led the defense with nine digs each, while Li had a career night at the net, posting a total of 11 blocks including four solos.  Setter Kelly Kostelich (Venetia/Peters Township) added 43 assists and six blocks in the win.
