(Lock Haven, Pa.) - The Lady Eagle volleyball team captured a win in its opening match of the LHU Classic, taking Mercy College (6-4) in three games, 30-26, 32-30, 30-22.  Lock Haven improves its overall record to 15-1 with the win.
                The Haven emerged victorious in what played out to be an extremely close match-up in all three games.  Teams exchanged leads several times in game one and were knotted up at 26-26 before the Lady Eagles went on a four-point run to wrap things up.  Mercy jumped out to a 6-1 lead from the start of game two, but just as quickly LHU rebounded and another down-to-the-wire game ensued. Tied up at 30-30, the Lady Eagles forced Mercy into two attacking errors to grab a win in the second game, 32-30.  LHU moved out into an early 7-2 advantage in game three before the Flyers answered to even it out at 12-12.  This time Lock Haven broke open the game with a series of small runs and moved out into a more sizeable lead, holding on for the 30-22 win.
                Cherry Li ( Shanghai , China ) and Jen Thompson ( N. Ridgeville , Ohio/Elyria Catholic) paced the offense, Li posting a team-best 11 kills while Thompson chipped in with eight kills. Allison Wade (Duncansville/Hollidaysburg) and Lillian Bortoto ( Sao Paulo , Brazil / Campos Salles) added seven and six kills, respectively.
