LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
– The Lock Haven University volleyball team
received preseason top-25 honors from the American Volleyball Coaches
Association (AVCA) and College Sports Television (CSTV) landing at No. 24 in
the CSTV/AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 poll. LHU is the only team in the
Atlantic Region to be ranked on the elite list.
Five of the Lady Eagles first six
contests are against ranked foes. LHU opens up play on Aug. 26 at the
Ferris State University Tournament where they will face No. 16 Northwood
University, No. 17 Ferris State and No. 14 Grand Valley State University.
The next tournament comes the following weekend when head coach Tom
Justice’s squad takes on No. 7 Central Missouri State University and No.
21 Augustana College.
“We scheduled those teams so that we
could test our players early in the season,” said Justice. “That way the
players can get an idea of what they need to accomplish to get where we want
to go.”
The 2004 Lady Eagles finished the season
ranked No. 25 in the same poll after winning the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC) Championship and the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional
Tournament, clinching a birth in the NCAA Elite Eight.
