The Lock Haven
volleyball team improved to 3-1 on the season, winning its
final two matches at the Ashland Invitational. The Lady
Eagles defeated conference rival Indiana (Pa.) in four
games (29-31, 30-23, 30-20, 30-21) and Shepherd College in
three straight games (30-15, 30-20, 30-17).
A strong attack and big blocks at the net
lifted the Lady Eagles over Indiana (Pa.). Cherry Li
(Shanghai, China) was the team statistical leader with
14 kills along with 13 digs, five blocks and three service
aces. Freshman Inga Kurgonaite (Kaunas, Lithuania/
Yuozas Urbsys)
also added 14 kills and six blocks. From the middle,
Lillian Bortoto
(Sao Paulo, Brazil/Campos Salles)
chipped in with 11 kills
and a match high of 11 blocks, including two solos.
Against Shepherd, Allison Wade
(Duncansville/Hollidaysburg Area) paced the Haven
effort with 11 kills. Both Kurgonaite and Maggie Borden
(Hanover/Delone Catholic) added eight kills. Borden
was the team digs leader, totaling seven on the match.

will be at the Findlay College Tournament next weekend,
Fri.-Sat., September 3-4.
