LOCK HAVEN, Pa.—The
No. 24 Lock Haven University volleyball team (13-2, 3-1 PSAC West) showed
resilience in a come-from-behind victory against Queens College (9-3)
tonight at the Thomas Field House, 26-30, 31-29, 30-21, 30-16. The Lady
Eagles played Queens as part of the LHU Volleyball Classic a two-day,
four-team tournament.
Up against the wall
early, LHU found itself down one and facing a 27-25 deficit in the second
set. Sophomore Jen Thompson (N. Ridgeville, Ohio/Elyria Catholic)
recorded a big kill, sparking the Lady Eagles to rally and win the set
31-29.
The momentum continued
to carry LHU through the rest of the match, as they scored the first six
points in each of the next two sets, sweeping the final two for the 3-1
victory.
Thompson and Li
Yizhi (Shanghai, China) both recorded double-doubles in the win,
Thompson with 10 kills and 20 digs and Li with 14 kills and 10 digs.
Thompson, Li and the
rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action in the LHU Volleyball Classic,
Saturday, Oct. 2 at 12:30 p.m. against Mercy College.
