CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (15-3, 3-2 PSAC West) shot themselves in the foot, falling to the California University (Pa.) Vulcans in straight sets, 30-26, 30-25, 30-19. LHU had a total of 33 errors in the match.

The Lady Eagles had a school-record 22 blocking errors combined with 11 service mistakes.

"We gave up 33 points to the other team in errors," head coach Tom Justice said. "Obviously we're disappointed."

LHU continued to get an offensive spark from sophomore Li Yizhi (Shanghai, China) as she led the squad with 13 kills on 21 attacks for an outstanding .545 hitting percentage. Freshman Inga Kurgonaite (Kaunas, Lithuania/Yuozas Urbsys) was second with seven kills.

With the victory, California moves past LHU into sole possession of first place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division.

Li, Kurgonaite and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action Friday-Saturday, Oct. 8-9 at the Shippensburg University Crossover.
