Haven University volleyball team
(21-3, 6-2 PSAC West) rebounded from a tentative start to down Edinboro
University (11-18, 2-6 PSAC West), 3-1 tonight. Sophomore Li Yizhi
(Shanghai,
China) posted a double-double with 23 kills
and 16 digs.
The Lady Eagles
stumbled out of the gate, dropping the first set 28-30. LHU nearly fell in
the second 30-28, with momentum carrying from there, 30-20 and 30-18.
Joining Li with
double-digit kills was Lilian Bortoto (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Campos
Salles) with 16 and Michelle Deehan (Upper Marlboro, Md./Gwynn Park)
adding 13. Deehan also posted a double-double with her team-high 20 digs.
“In the first game, we
were too tentative,” head coach Tom Justice said. “After a while, we
started to figure things out and block well. That was key to our win.”
Junior Kelly
Kostelich (Venetia,
Pa./Peters Township) again captained the
offense with 38 assists.
Li, Bortoto, Deehan,
Justice, Kostelich and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action
Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. at Indiana University (Pa.),
in a battle of the top two teams in the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC) West Division.
