
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –Lock
Haven University volleyball (23-3,
8-2 PSAC West) was a team on a mission tonight, blitzing California
University (Pa.)
(26-6, 6-4 PSAC West) 3-0 at Thomas Field House. With tonight’s
30-23, 30-27, 30-20 victory, LHU clinches first place in the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West, meaning they’ll host the entire PSAC
tournament.
Leading the way for the
Lady Eagles was freshman Inga Kurgonaite (Kaunas,
Lithuania/Yuozas
Urbsys) with 11 kills on just 25 attempts for an excellent .400 hitting
percentage. Celebrating Senior Day for LHU was Lilian Bortoto (Sao
Paulo,
Brazil/Campos Salles) as the fourth-year
middle-hitter added seven kills to go with a team-best nine solo blocks.
Also contributing in
their final regular-season game for the Haven were Kelly Wengerter
(Emerson, N.J./Emerson) with five digs, Kristi Kauffman (York,
Pa./Central York) with 14 digs and Theresa Stoeckel (Binghamton,
N.Y./Chenango Forks).
Junior Kelly
Kostelich (Venetia,
Pa./Peters Township) ran the offense for the
Lady Eagles by putting together 30 assists.
Kurgonaite,
Bortoto, Kostelich and the rest of the Lady Eagles will host the PSAC
Championship Tournament on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 12-13 with teams and times
