
LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
– The Lock Haven University volleyball team (24-3) sped past Indiana
University (Pa.) (26-10) tonight, 3-0. The Lady Eagles hit .392, including a
.560 clip in the final set to down IUP 30-15, 30-26, 30-13. The win advances
LHU to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship.
Sophomore all-America
candidate Li Yizhi (Shanghai, China) added two more LHU records to
her lengthening list, recording 21 kills and 11 blocks, both three-match
school bests. Also hitting double-figures in kills was junior Allison
Wade (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) with 10 on .364 hitting.
Captaining the offense
once again was junior Kelly Kostelich (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township)
with 30 assists. Junior Michelle Deehan (Upper Marlboro, Md./Gwynn
Park) led the team with 10 digs.
The Haven defense was
impressive, particularly stepping it up in the final set, holding Indiana to
just a -.028 hitting percentage in that period and a .017 percentage
overall. Leading IUP in kills was Marcy Stutzman with nine.
Li, Wade,
Kostelich, Deehan and the rest of the Lady Eagles will return to Thomas
Field House tomorrow, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. for the conference championship
against Shippensburg University.
