Region Semifinal, 3-0

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
– Powered by a stifling defense that held North Carolina Central (24-14) to
just -.011 hitting, the Lock Haven University volleyball team (26-3) got a
straight-set win in the opening round of the NCAA Division II National
Tournament. Sophomore Li Yizhi (Shanghai, China) posted a
double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs.
The Haven got off to a
bit of a slow start, but turned it on quickly, eliminating the Eagles 30-22,
30-19, 30-13. Li took over in the second set, notching half of her kills in
that column.
Captaining the offense
once again was junior Kelly Kostelich (Venetia, Pa./Peters
Township) with 26 assists.
The Haven defense was
impressive, as NCCU never hit above .133 in a set. Leading NCCU with six
kills apiece were Danielle Johnson-Webb and Brenda Brown.
Li, Kostelich and the
rest of the Lady Eagles will return to Thomas Field House tomorrow, Nov. 19
at 7:30 p.m. for the NCAA Regional Semifinal against Lees-McRae College.
