Downs Lees-McRae, 3-0

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
The balanced scoring attack of
the Lock Haven University volleyball team (27-3) helped it overcome 28 total
errors, squeezing by Lees McRae College (29-9) in straight sets tonight
(30-27, 30-27, 30-21) at the Thomas Field House. Sophomore Li Yizhi (Shanghai,
China) led four Haven attackers
in double-figures with 17, a prime example of the balance that has kept the
Lady Eagles undefeated in 2004 post-season play.
Joining Li in the
balanced attack was Allison Wade (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area)
with 15 and both Michelle Deehan (Upper Marlboro, Md./Gwynn Park)
and Inga Kurgonaite (Kaunas, Lithuania/Yuozas Urbsys) with 10 kills,
powering LHU to the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Final.
Wade and Li both
notched double-doubles with 14 and 11 digs apiece. Junior Kelly Kostelich
(Venetia, Pa./Peters Township)
captained the offense with 36
assists.
Li, Wade, Deehan,
Kurgonaite, Kostelich and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action
Saturday, Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. as they host California University (Pa.)
in the Atlantic Region Championship.
