Volleyball Climbs CSTV/AVCA Rankings

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball program (4-4) and head coach Tom Justice continue to make noise in the 2005 season, and other coaches around the nation are listening.  The Lady Eagles moved up three spots to No. 21 in the College Sports Television (CSTV)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Coaches Top-25 Poll today (Sept. 7).

After facing seven ranked opponents in their first eight contests, including upsets of No. 16 Northwood University, No. 21 Augustana University (S.D.) and defending National Champion and No. 3 Barry University, LHU is prepared for conference play.

“I feel really good about what the team accomplished in our tough early-season schedule,” said Justice.  “Playing mostly ranked opponents showed how strong we were, but also pointed out weaknesses that we need to address.  I don’t think we would have been able to grow as much had we not played in those two early-season prestigious tournaments, and I feel that our team is ready for conference action.”

The No. 21 Lady Eagles open up Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play against IUP inside Thomas Fieldhouse Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
