HAVEN, Pa. – Junior middle hitter
Li YiZhi (Shanghai, China)
was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Athlete of the
Week honors for her play in the first two weeks of the 2005 season, the
conference office announced today (Sept. 7).
Li started her junior campaign right
where she left off in 2004, leading the No. 21 Lady Eagles against stiff
competition in two prestigious early season tournaments. Perhaps her top
performance came in a 3-2 win over defending National Champion Barry
University, when she had 20 kills, 31 digs and five blocks. That was part
of a four-match stretch at the 2005 Colorado Premier Challenge, where she
garnered tournament MVP honors.
For the season, Li
is averaging 3.87 kills per game, 5.70 digs per game and carries a hitting
percentage of .387. She also has team-highs of 17 aces and 30 blocks.
