BLOOMSBURG, Pa.—Sophomore
guard Candace Sillers (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon) hit
for a career high in points for the third consecutive
game, this time with 17 in the Lock Haven University
women’s basketball team’s (2-13) 73-65 loss at Bloomsburg
University (7-5) today.
The team’s played
neck-and-neck throughout the majority of the game, as the
lead would change hands seven times in the first half. The
Lady Eagles enjoyed their biggest lead at 19-14 with 12:08
left in the first half on a layup by junior
Kristy Shadduck (Dimmock,
Pa./Elk Lake).
The Huskies took the lead
for good with 7:14 left in the first, and LHU would get no
closer than two points away throughout the second half.
The Lady Eagles out-shot the Huskies 45-to-43 percent, but
Bloomsburg made six more three-pointers and eight more
free-throws to cinch the win.
Joining Sillers in double
figures were her fellow starting guards
Allison Hall (Hollidaysburg,
Pa./Hollidaysburg)
and
Elizabeth Gabrielle
(State
College, Pa./State College)
with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Shadduck would finish
with five points and 11 rebounds in a valuable reserve
role.
The Huskies ended an LHU
two-game win streak, and the Lady Eagles have not won at
Bloomsburg since March 3, 1989.
Sillers, Shadduck, Hall,
Gabrielle and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in
action Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. as they travel to
