SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.—The
Lock Haven University women’s basketball team (2-15, 1-2
PSAC West) put the clamps down defensively in the second
half, but couldn’t overcome a 19-point halftime deficit
and lost to Slippery Rock University (7-11, 1-2 PSAC West)
today, 59-47.
Despite being held to
under 50 points for the first time in exactly a month, a
Dec. 22 47-46 loss at Kutztown University, the Lady Eagles
managed three scorers in double figures. Sophomore
Ginger
Williams (Pasadena,
Md./Chesapeake)
paced the team with 12 points and eight rebounds, followed
by Elizabeth
Gabrielle (State
College, Pa./State College)
at 11 points and five
assists and
Allison Hall (Hollidaysburg,
Pa./Hollidaysburg)
with 10 points.
LHU couldn’t get on track
early as it fell behind 22-4 in the first 7:30 of the
contest. The Lady Eagles trailed 41-22 at the half.
In the second frame, Lock
Haven held the Rock to just 26 percent shooting (6-of-23),
as the Lady Eagles took the second half 25-18.
The Haven reached its
closest point, down 10 at 57-47 with 3:32 left on a jumper
by Gabrielle, but both teams would go scoreless for the
next 3:22, and LHU would remain scoreless for the rest of
the game.

and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action
Wednesday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. as they play host to
Shippensburg University. |
