LOCK
HAVEN, Pa.— The Lock Haven
University women’s basketball team (4-19, 2-6 PSAC West)
fell victim to the stingy defense and fast-paced offense
of Clarion University (19-4, 7-1 PSAC West) tonight, 80-55
at Thomas Fieldhouse. The Lady Eagles shot just 39 percent
(20-of-62) from the floor, and gave up a 22-8 margin in
fast-break points.
Sophomore
forward
Ginger
Williams (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake)
led the Lady Eagles with 17 points and seven rebounds,
while classmate
Allison Hall
(Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg)
rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11 points.
Sophomore point guard
Elizabeth
Gabrielle (State College, Pa./State College)
put together a well-balanced evening of eight points, six
rebounds, six assists and five steals.
The Lady
Eagles had trouble in the early going, shooting at just a
26 percent (8-of-31) clip in the first half, compared to
the Golden Eagles’ 64 percent (16-of-25) effort.
Clarion
went on a 16-4 run midway through the first half,
stretching their lead to its half-high height of 17
points. The Golden Eagles piled on more of the same in the
second stanza, finishing with four scorers in double
digits.
Williams,
Hall, Gabrielle and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back
in action Saturday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. as they host
Slippery Rock University. |
