LOCK
HAVEN, Pa.— The Lock Haven
University women’s basketball team (4-20, 2-7 PSAC West)
fell today to Slippery Rock University (9-15, 3-6 PSAC
West), 58-50 at Thomas Fieldhouse. The Lady Eagles played
a strong first half but fell victim to poor shooting in
the second.
Junior
forward
Kristy
Shadduck (Dimmock, Pa./Elk Lake)
led the Lady Eagles with 12 points, while
Ginger
Williams (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake)
chipped in 11 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Today’s
game was a defensive-minded affair, both teams forced over
20 turnovers. The Lady Eagles went into the half with the
score tied at 26 but late in the second they allowed the
Rock to go on a 9-0 run, and they could never recover.
The Rock
kept the game out of reach by hitting 20-of-21 free throws
in the game, 16 of those in the second half. The Lady
Eagles led in shooting percentage in the first 42.9
percent to 39.1 percent, but trailed off in the second,
hitting only eight of their 27 field goal attempts.
The
three-point line wasn’t friendly to the Lady Eagles who
were only able to convert one of their nine long range
attempts. They also lost their leading scorer
Allison Hall
(Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) with a leg injury
only five minutes into the first half.
Shadduck,
Williams, Hall and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in
action Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. as they travel to
Shippensburg University. |
