LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team (4-22,
2-9 PSAC West) fell today at the hands of Edinboro
University (18-7, 5-5 PSAC West), 73-62 at Thomas
Fieldhouse. Sophomore forward
Ginger
Williams (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake)
recorded her second-straight double-double,
but it still wasn’t enough to topple the Fighting Scots.
LHU
played it close most of the game but they couldn’t stop
Edinboro’s Kelly Calderone who dropped 31 points on the
Lady Eagles. Lock Haven played strong defense in the first
half, causing Edinboro to shoot only 24 percent (9-of-37)
from the field and nine percent (1-of-11) from beyond the
three-point line.
The Lady
Eagles had the game tied at 45 with 10:45 left in the
second half, but allowed Edinboro to go on a 18-4 run and
they could never recover. LHU was hurt by their 24
turnovers that led to 26 points for the Fighting Scots,
while Lock Haven could only convert nine points off of
Edinboro’s 16 turnovers.
Lock
Haven was led by Williams who scored 17 points, which tied
her career high, and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the team
in both categories. She was supported by classmates
Shameka L. Lee
(Washington/HD Woodson) and
Allison Hall
(Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg)
who scored 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Williams,
Lee, Hall and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in
action Saturday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. as they travel to #10
California University. |
