ERIE, Pa.
– Turnovers kept the Lock Haven University women’s
basketball team (0-3) from capturing their first win of
the 2004-05 season today at Mercyhurst College (2-2), as
the Lady Eagles lost to the Lakers 75-51. Senior forward
Melissa Picarsic (Acme, Pa./Mt. Pleasant) led all
Haven scorers with 13 points.
The Lady Eagles lost the
turnover battle just 24-19, but the Lakers took better
advantage of those extra chances, outscoring LHU 29-8 in
points off takeaways.
Joining Picarsic in
double figures was sophomore guard Allison Hall
(Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) with 12, as Hall
continues to score well in her move to starter from top
reserve a year ago. Hall has scored in double figures in
each of the Haven’s three games this season.
The Lady Eagles got off
to a great start, and held the lead for the first five
minutes, stretching the advantage to as high as six on
three occasions. Hall recorded six of her 13 points
during that five minute span.
The team’s would battle
back and forth for the next nine minutes, as the Lakers
took the lead for good with 6:45 left in the first half.
Hall, Picarsic and the
rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action Saturday,
Dec. 4 as they host Cheyney University at 1 p.m. |
