HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University women's
basketball team (0-4) let an
11-point halftime lead slip away in its 63-53 loss to
Cheyney University tonight at the Thomas Field
House. Senior forward
Melissa Picarsic (Acme, Pa./Mt. Pleasant) led all
Lady Eagle scorers with 13
points to go with five rebounds.
LHU had a hot first half, shooting 50
percent (11-of-22) and adding
eight points from the charity stripe. The Lady Eagles
started the game on a 12-3
run, with four different players contributing to those
points.
Sophomore guard Allison Hall
(Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) hit two
free throws with 7:40 left in the first half,
stretching the lead to its
high-point of 14 at 24-10.
The Lady Eagles managed just four points
in the first 8:20 out of
halftime, allowing the Wolves to gain a three-point lead
on long-range shot by Ranisha
Childress. The Haven would get no closer than three for
the remainder of the contest.
Hall joined Picarsic as LHU's
double-figure scorers, giving her seven
games in a row reaching double-figures in points.
Hall had a balanced effort,
adding four rebounds and four steals to the cause.
Sophomore Ginger Williams
(Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) had eight points to go
with a team-high seven boards.
Picarsic, Hall, Williams and the rest of
the Lady Eagles are back in
action Sunday, Dec. 5 against Millersville University at
1 p.m.
