SMITHFIELD, R.I.—The
Lock Haven University women’s basketball team (0-9) made a
great surge in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as
American International College (10-1) topped LHU, 64-52
tonight in game one of the Comfort Inn and Suites Holiday
Tournament hosted by Bryant College.
The Lady Eagles actually
beat the Yellow Jackets 34-28 in the second half, but they
couldn’t overcome the 18-point halftime deficit. Sophomore
forward
Ginger Williams (Pasadena,
Md./Chesapeake)
hit double figures for the
second time in three games with a team-best 12 points and
six rebounds.
Sophomore guard
Elizabeth
Gabrielle (State
College, Pa./State College)
added 10 points, six assists and five rebounds to the
cause. The Lady Eagles controlled the final four minutes
of the game, going on a 10-2 run to finish the contest,
getting five points from Gabrielle during that run.
LHU had one lead in the
contest, when sophomore guard
Allison Hall
(Holidaysburg,
Pa./Holidaysburg)
made the first two points
of the game on a jump shot.
Williams, Gabrielle, Hall and the rest of the Lady Eagles
will be back in action Thursday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m. against
host Bryant College in game three of the holiday
tournament. |
