Despite a double-double and season-high
performance from Amy
Daniels (Elizabethville/Upper Dauphin), the Lady
Eagle basketball team (7-17, 1-10 PSAC West) could
not get past Clarion University (15-10, 5-5 PSAC
West), falling 69-55 on the road this
afternoon. Lock Haven gave up a six-point
halftime lead and was outscored by the Golden
Eagles, 41-21, in the second half leading up to
the final outcome. Daniels scored a
game-high 22 points along with a team-best 11
boards for her third double-double of the season
despite the loss.
A total of 13
of Daniels' points came in the opening stanza, as
LHU shot 37.9 percent and was key on free throws
with 10-of-12 made attempts for the 34-28
lead. The Lady Eagles' troubles started in
the second half, as they were hard pressed to get
shots to fall while Clarion forged ahead shooting
60-percent for 41 points in the second half.
In addition
to Daniels' performance, Beth Ann Szekeres (Enhault
Steelton/Central Dauphin East) added nine
points and five rebounds. |

(12-12, 5-4 PSAC West), 59-53, this evening in the

saw a six-point half time lead evaporate midway
through the second period, and the Lady Raiders
clung to a modest advantage the rest of the way to
hand LHU the divisional loss.
Cyndi
Crowl (Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) was the LHU
scoring leader with 10 points, and Holly Young
(Bellwood/Bellwood-Antis) chipped in with

(Indiana, Pa.) -
The Lady Eagles (7-14,
1-7 PSAC West) lost a 60-51 road game to Indiana
(Pa.) University (14-8, 4-4 PSAC West), falling
behind early and unable to gain an advantage
through the second half despite making a run in
the latter portion of the stanza.
Lock Haven dug itself
into a 27-19 hole by the intermission, with
Indiana putting up the bulk of its points from the
free throw line (13-of-16). The Haven would
battle back and bring the game to within one point
with 6:00 remaining, but a scoring spurt by IUP's
Sarah Zdesar stretched out the lead once more
before the final 60-51 tally.
Cyndi
Crowl (Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) led LHU with
14 points and Melissa
Picarsic (Acme/Mt. Pleasant) added 11 points. Kristy

The Lady Eagles (7-12,
1-6 PSAC West) fell,
71-62, to Edinboro University (14-8, 4-3 PSAC West)
this afternoon in a PSAC West match-up. Three Lady
Eagles scored in
double digits but could not gain
the offensive advantage against a sharp-shooting
Fighting Scot unit that hit nine three-pointers
over the span of the game.
In the first half, neither team could pull away,
with Edinboro posting the largest lead of
the half at six points. Lock Haven would battle
back from that deficit, regaining the lead with a jumper by Amy
Daniels (Elizabethville/Upper Dauphin) to go
ahead, 37-36,
going into halftime.
The Lady Eagles
came out strong in the second half, jumping to a
43-38 lead early. The Scots fought back, however, and
went on a 9-0 run retake the lead. The two teams
would swap leads several times before Edinboro’s
Jodi Calderone would hit a three at 10:43 to lend
EUP the four-point lead. Edinboro would build a
lead as high as nine points before Lock Haven cut it down to three
with only 4:42 to go. That would be as close as the
Lady Eagles would get, however, before the final
71-62 loss.
Daniels would
record a double double, leading The Haven with 14
points and a career-best 16 rebounds. Also, scoring in
double-digits were Anita Charles
(Lancaster/Lancaster Catholic) and Kristy

1-4 PSAC West) were unable to finish on top,
falling to Clarion University (12-7, 2-2 PSAC

now 6-6 overall, shot 57.7-percent in the first
half to go ahead by as much as 13 points before a

The Lady Eagle basketball team (6-5) survived a
close dual against the visiting Warriors of East
Stroudsburg University (1-10) this evening,
squeaking out the 56-54 victory in PSAC cross-over
action. Neither team generated more than a
six-point lead at any time during the game, and
the second half went back and forth six times
before The Haven was able to hold on to a
two-point lead off of a late bucket by Cyndi
Crowl (Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg). East
Stroudsburg had enough time following the basket
to push the ball up the court and get off a
three-pointer for the win, but the shot did not
fall and The Haven's Melissa Picarsic (Acme/Mt.
Pleasant) grabbed the rebound to eliminate
any second chances.
Crowl led
Lady Eagle scorers with 10 points, while Holly Young
(Bellwood/ Bellwood-Antis) added nine points

single-game record with 14 three-point field
goals. Lock Haven was down by five after the

move ahead by as much as four points midway
through the second half. Kutztown went on a
run of its own to regain the lead and was ahead,
77-73, with 54 seconds remaining in
regulation. A good bucket by LHU's Melissa
Picarsic (Acme/Mt. Pleasant) with 31 seconds

Crowl (Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) sank a pair
of free throws to bring the score to 77-77 and
force the overtime. Kutztown's shooters got
hot again in the extra minutes, outscoring LHU
14-3 while knocking down three long-range field
goals to take the 91-80 victory.

Lock Haven triumphed in a down-to-the-wire game at

the Mountaineers with tonight's 63-60 victory. The
Lady Eagles fought back from deficits as high as
10 points in the second half to tie up the game at
58-58 with 2:47 remaining. Amy Daniels
(Elizabethville/Upper Dauphin) took a pass
from the wing and spun off her defender in the
paint to hit a short jumper with 1:03 on the
clock, giving LHU its first lead of the
second half, 60-58. After a turnover on the other
end, Daniels was fouled and marched back down to
hit one-of-two free throws to move the lead to
three, 61-58. Fouled on the rebound of the
missed free throw, Daniels went back to the line,
again hitting one-of-two for the 62-58 lead.
A layup on the other end by Mansfield's Alison
Tagliaferri brought the Mountaineers to within
two, but time ran out and LHU held for the
win. Another free throw in the waning

Crowl (Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) wrapped up the
