LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
Lock Haven University head wrestling coach Rocky
Bonomo was chosen Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Coach of the Year,
the league office announced today (March 25). The EWL coaches vote on this
honor.
In his third
year as head coach of the Bald Eagles, Bonomo led LHU to a 6-8 overall dual
mark with a 3-3 conference record. Bonomo also earned the highest-ever EWL
finish of his tenure, taking runner-up honors while placing all 10
wrestlers, sending six to the national championships and bringing home two
individual EWL titles.
The young
squad (without a senior in the starting lineup) showed signs of improvement
as the year went on, taking two of their last three dual meets, including an
exciting 21-19 finish over then-No. 22 West Virginia University.
