LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
The Lock Haven University wrestling program and head coach
Rocky Bonomo have three wrestlers listed in
a preseason individual rankings list by Amateur Wrestling News. Sophomore
Obe Blanc
(Naples, Fla./Lely), and seniors
Joshua A. Medina
(Las Vegas/Pima C.C.) and
Morgan Horner
(Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights) were
listed in the Top 20 at their respective weight classes. All three
wrestlers competed at the NCAA Championship Tournament in St. Louis last
season.
After just one year of experience, Blanc
finds himself ranked No. 14 at 125. Last season, the redshirt-freshman
compiled a 28-14 record including a third place finish at the Eastern
Wrestling League (EWL) Tournament and a championship at the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament.
Medina, ranked No. 11, returns for his
senior season with the Bald Eagles. The 149-pounder finished his 2004-05
campaign with a 29-8 record, including a EWL and PSAC individual title.
Horner seemed to get better as his
junior season went on, finishing with an 11-5 record and the highest finish
at the NCAA tournament. Horner took sixth at the PSAC meet, but captured
the crown at the EWL tournament. He is ranked No. 11 at his 197 weight
class for the upcoming season.
Blanc, Medina, Horner and the rest of
the Bald Eagles will kickoff their 2005-06 season at the PA Duals in
University Park, Pa. on Sunday, Nov. 13.
