LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
– A seven-year veteran of the head coaching ranks,
Heather Kendra was named head women’s soccer coach at
Lock Haven University, Sharon Taylor, LHU Director
of Athletics announced today. Kendra comes to the Haven
from Carnegie
Mellon University.
"I’m
absolutely thrilled to be afforded the chance to work with
a program with such a rich tradition of success,” Kendra
said. “I’m excited for the opportunity and I can’t wait to
get started.”
Kendra spent all seven of
her head coaching seasons with the Tartans, posting a
67-44-12 record and a 2003 Eastern Collegiate Athletic
Conference Mid-Atlantic Tournament championship. Kendra
turned around the CMU soccer program in the past four
seasons, posting three ECAC playoff appearances and a
48-15-10 ledger.
“We are very pleased to
have attracted someone of the quality of Heather Kendra to
our women’s soccer position,” Taylor said. “In every
aspect of her preparation and experience she has been
successful and she has gained the confidence and respect
of soccer colleagues at all levels. I think Heather is a
great fit for Lock Haven University, and we are excited
about what she will offer our student-athletes.”
As a player at Plymouth State College, Kendra earned
Second Team Regional All-American
honors as a midfielder in both 1994 and 1995. Kendra
earned a B.S. in physical education/exercise science in
1996.
Later, Kendra moved on to the
University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she completed her
M.A. in Physical Education/Sport Administration.
Kendra replaces Peter Campbell as Lady Eagle head
coach.
Campbell
returns to his associate athletic director duties after a
one-season appointment.
The Lady
Eagles wrapped up their 2004 campaign with a 11-6-2
overall and 8-1-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)
record. The 2004 Lady Eagles made an appearance in the
PSAC quarterfinals and earned two First Team All-Northeast
Region selections. |
