LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –Sophomore
Holly Homsher’s (Millersville/Penn Manor) goal 47
seconds into the game was just enough for the Lock Haven
University women’s soccer (5-5-1, 3-1 PSAC West) team,
as it defeated Edinboro University (4-4-2, 2-2 PSAC
West) today, 1-0.
Homsher’s goal was the
second-fastest in school history, behind Naomi Clarke
who scored in 19 seconds against Clarion in 2002.
Homsher took a pass from Brooke Rangi (Kawerau,
New Zealand/Kawerau College) and fired left footed for
the game winner. Rangi has now scored points in six
straight games.
The LHU defensive line
was the true star today, allowing just six shots (to the
Haven’s 21) only one reaching Lady Eagle goalkeeper
Heather Ireland (Sarnia, Ontario/Northern NCIVS).
Ireland made the one stop
to improve to 4-5-1 on the year with her third shutout.
Abbey Mortus took the loss for Edinboro.
Homsher, Rangi, Ireland
and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action
Saturday, Oct. 2 at Philadelphia University at noon. |
