Women's Soccer Falls Short at Philadelphia, 3-2

PHILADELPHIA – In a back-and-forth affair that unfortunately ended on a forth, the Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (5-6-1, 3-1 PSAC West) lost to Philadelphia University (4-4) today, 3-2. All five goals were scored in the second half.

Veronica Ferrarrio scored the first of her two goals over five minutes into the second stanza. Danielle Smith (Johnson, N.Y./Minisink Valley) followed with her second goal of the season to even it up.

After another Lady Ram goal, Holly Homsher (Millersville/Penn Manor) again evened the tally with her second goal of the year. Ferrario then broke the backs of the Lady Eagles with a goal under the eight-minute mark to make the final score 3-2.

Heather Ireland (Sarnia, Ontario/Northern NCIVS) made six stops in nine tries in the loss (4-6-1) and Lauri Cain made six saves in eight chances for the win.

Smith, Homsher, Ireland and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action Sunday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. against Indiana University.
