LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
Despite shutting down the top goal-scorer in the Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference (PSAC), the Lock Haven University
women’s soccer team couldn’t go 3-0 against Indiana
University (Pa.) this season, as the Lady Eagles lost in
a PSAC Tournament Quarterfinal 1-0 today at McCollum
Field.
The PSAC West Player of
the Week Emily Wagner (Brick, N.J./Brick
Township) had another outstanding outing, making several
acrobatic saves, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady
Eagles’ PSAC title hopes came to an end. Wagner amazed
the crowd with a leaping deflection, using every bit of
her 5-foot-3 frame, adding two diving efforts early in
the second half.
After a scoreless first
half, Emily Thomas struck for the Indians on a solo
effort, dribbling right then left at the right side of
the 6-yard box, hitting a cross shot to the upper left
corner of the net for the game winner.
Wagner made five saves in
six tries, falling to 4-1. Sarah Daw made seven stops in
the win. |
