Summer Aid for Different Student Groups
Financial Aid for Current Students
Financial aid for summer is generally limited. In some cases students may qualify for federal and/or state grant assistance and/or student loans. Rest assured that students will be considered for any available grants as their eligibility is reviewed.
The Financial Aid Office will automatically review Pell Grant eligibility of all registered students for the Summer Session who have a complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file. Upon the completion of that review, Financial Aid will notify students via their LHU email address that their summer financial aid information is available to be viewed online. The awarding of summer aid will begin in mid-April. Please note that a student must submit an application for summer aid and be registered for summer classes in order to have his loan eligibility for summer financial aid reviewed.
If your financial aid package includes a Federal Direct Stafford Loan AND you are a new borrower, you must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and a loan entrance counseling session online. To do so, sign into https://studentloans.gov, then click on the "Complete MPN" and "Complete Entrance Counseling" links. You can also check at https://studentloans.gov to see if you have already completed a MPN and counseling.
If you need additional funding for summer, you might want to consider a Direct Plus Loan for Parents or an Alternative Loan.
Financial Aid for Continuing Education Students
In order to be considered for financial aid a student must be enrolled in a degree seeking program. Because continuing education students do not meet this condition, they are not eligible for Federal or State financial aid programs. The only financial aid option for which they may qualify is a private, alternative loan.
Making adjustments to aid awarded
If you wish to cancel or reduce a loan, please complete the Loan Change/Cancellation form available under the forms tab.
