International Student Success Series


Each semester Lock Haven University international students are provided with a series of meetings, programs, workshops, and events that are designed to help them acclimate to the social and academic culture in Lock Haven. This is an extended orientation program designed to give students the tools for success at Lock Haven University. The purpose of this series is to help students experience what LHU and the surrounding community has to offer. The program combines workshops on special topics with social and cultural events designed to enrich international students stay at LHU and by assisting the University with retention. International students are encouraged to participate in all events (some are required). All events are free and some will require registration.

General Learning Outcomes:

Lock Haven University international students will be able to:

  • Establish connections with other LHU students, staff, faculty and the community
  • Become familiar with important services offered by the Institute for International Studies and cooperating offices
  • Recognize their rights and responsibilities under United States law in order to remain in status and an active student at LHU
  • Be proactive in solving problems or issues during their time as a student at LHU
  • Create opportunities relating to their academic career such as internships and work after college
  • Increase academic success through knowledge of support services provided by LHU
