Mathematics Competency

It is an expectation of all elementary teachers that they will be able to demonstrate that they are
competent to use and teach basic mathematics appropriate to elementary aged children.
The links that follow list some of those basic skills and allow you to review and practice
those concepts and skills in preparation for PRAXIS 1 and the Mathematical Competency test.

The following areas are covered on these tests and you should review and practice these skills
and competency areas.  Many of these sites have been designed for elementary aged children, but
adults often find them useful to review simple concepts.
A good place to start is review all of the basic skills on a grade by grade practice site: IXL

A practice test is available by downloading this link:  Math Competency Test Sample Problems
