Hi, Chass. An interaction occurs when the influence of one independent variable is dependent on the level of another independent variable. So, for an interaction to occur, you must have a research study with two or more independent variables. Then, the participant's response must depend on both of those variables. So, for example, in the Clark and Hatfield study that we discussed, the participant's sexual behavior depended on both the gender of the participant and the type of question asked. Does that make more sense?
