Hi, Emily. Confounds of all types threaten the internal validity of a research study. Operational confounds, person confounds, and environmental confounds threaten the internal validity of a nonexperimental design. Procedural confounds, person confounds, and operational confounds threaten the internal validity of an experiment. Replication studies are basically repeats of your original study. They are designed to reduce concerns about internal and external valdity. They involve replicating an experiment, using the same constructs but different operational definitions.
