Guidelines for the laboratory

1.         You are required to attend your regularly scheduled lab section.  If in an emergency you are unable to attend, you must attend one of the other labs sections for that week.  For illness, please submit a letter from your physician.  Please contact the instructor whose section you want to attend and ask for permission (you will take the quiz from that section, and assignments due are still due at your lab time).  No make-up labs will be given.  If a lab is completely missed, please meet the instructor in order to receive the lab material that was covered in class. You will be responsible for all of the material covered in that lab.

2.         Be on time for lab and plan to stay the whole time.  No one should make any appointments during the 3 hour time period for lab.

3.         All lab assignments must be completed and submitted on/before the required starting time of the lab on the due date.  Late assignments will be awarded a partial grade (10% less immediately for late and then 10% less for each day after the due date).  Not attending your lab does NOT change the due date.

4.         Bring your lab manual, a calculator that has general mathematical functions and a highlighter to each lab session.

5.         You are responsible for taking notes on all parts of the lab.

6.         No food or drinks are permitted in the lab.  Don’t eat breakfast, lunch or dinner here.

7.         Your grades will be submitted to Dr. Shonah Hunter at mid-term and at the end of the semester.  Each student should keep track of their own grades; there is a page for this in the lab manual.

8.         Cheating will not be tolerated.  Each student must to their own work, except when a group assignment is specified.  The first cheating incident results in a zero for that assignment and is recorded in the class record.  A second offense results in an E (failure) for the course and the student will be reported to Dr. Hunter.

9.         It is expected that students show respect for each other during class.  Dress appropriately.

10.       All electronics (phones, iPods, etc.) must be put away (completely out of sight) and not touched until after the lab is over.  If you have an emergency, let me know before class and, of course, I’ll tell you to keep you phone handy.

Reasonable Accommodations:  Lock Haven University is committed to ensuring that no otherwise qualified individual with a disability be denied participation in or benefits from any of its programs on the basis of a disability. Students with disabilities are encouraged to discuss requests for reasonable accommodations with the professor at the beginning of the semester. In order for accommodations to be provided, your disability must be verified by Dr. Reynol Junco, Director, Office for Disability Services for Students, 104 Russell Hall, 484-2926.
