Hedin Environmental.     2000.      Restoration Plan for East Branch Lake and Johnson Run.      The Elk County Fisherman and Headwaters Charitable Trust.     60 p.     [WBI-47].

The watersheds are located in Sergeant Township of McKean County and Jones and St. Marys Townships in Elk County and encompass 81.7 square miles. The plan was developed to counter the rising pH of East Branch Lake due to acid mine discharge. A description of the watershed along with identified problems, expectations, objectives, recommendations and plan development and implementation are included. Tables provide data on stream flow, pH and various metal discharges from as early as summer of 1996 for some streams through winter of 2000 for the various streams in the watershed. Conditions after building treatment areas are also monitored and listed in data tables. Macroinvertebrate surveys for some areas are included. The US Army Corps of Engineers and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection monitor the water quality.
