The Women's Studies Program is an interdisciplinary program that includes faculty from a variety of departments on Lock Haven's campus.
The main focus of the Women's Studies Program is to offer a minor in Women's Studies. As the program is interdisciplinary in nature, a student with a minor in Women's Studies would take a variety of courses from multiple departments. The courses offered vary from semester to semester. For more information on the Women's Studies Minor, please visit ourAs a Minor page. To view the courses being offered each semester, please visit our Course Offerings page. To find out about the faculty who frequently offer Women's Studies courses, visit our Faculty Biographies page.
A second focus of the program is to offer on-campus events that discuss gender issues in society. These may include evening lectures or "brown bag" discussions. For more information regarding the Women's Studies events, visit our Events page. We have events planned through out the year, so be sure to check the events regularly for updates!
Please visit our photogallery for pictures from Women's Studies events, including the March 2009 Let Her Voice Be Heard and the October 2008 Domestic Violence Awareness Vigil events.
Finally, the Women's Studies program focuses on improving the quality of life for all individuals, through an understanding of the social, economic, and political factors that influence women and men. To that end, we have a resources page, which provides information about various opportunities and resources available to Lock Haven students. One example of these opportunities is the day care discount open to parent-students who choose to enroll their children in select area day cares.
