LHU 2008 Domestic Violence Awareness Vigil
On October 1, 2008, the LHU Women's Studies Minor and HOPE Center
co-sponsored a vigil to raise awareness of domestic violence. Speakers included
Women's Studies Coordinator Dr. SueAnn Schatz, HOPE Advisor Board Chair Dr.
Elizabeth Gruber, LHU Provost Dr. Roger Johnson, Clinton County Women's Center
Director Cindy Love, and several faculty and students. A special thank you to
everyone who attended and everyone willing to share their own stories to raise
awareness on this issue.
At 6:30 pm, people began to arrive for the Domestic Violence Awareness Vigil
Women's Studies Coordinator, Dr. SueAnn Schatz, opened the vigil.

Elizabeth Gruber, HOPE Board Chair, spoke about efforts to create a
center at LHU for students dealing with domestic violence and sexual
assault
Courtney Meyer spoke on a new group interested in changing sexual assault policies on campus
Clinton County Women's Center Director Cindy Love spoke on domestic violence in Clinton County
After hearing from students and faculty, attendees began to light candles to represent awareness and change
The vigil ended with a walk around Russell Lawn
