Learning Outcomes

  • Outcome #1 Gender in Society: Minors will describe and analyze the construction of gender and sexuality historically, and in relation to race, class, culture, ethnicity, age and disability

  • Outcome #2 Methodology: Minors will apply a variety of sophisticated theoretical perspectives and approaches to study the relation between gender, sexuality, and issues of social equality and justice.

  • Outcome #3 Global Diversity: Minors will identify and analyze social and environmental issues from gender perspective both in the United States and in the global contexts.

  • Outcome #4 Critical Thinking: Minors will apply and critique logical arguments, including the critique and refutation of logical fallacies in discussions pertaining to representations of gender roles in society.


Program of Study

The Women and Gender Studies minor gives students the opportunity to earn an undergraduate minor in the program in three different pathways. You decide which pathway you want by identifying the Introductory course you wish to take. Based on the Introductory course you take, you can register for a Women's Studies pathway, a Gender Studies pathway, and a Women and Gender Studies pathway .

Pathway 1: Women's Studies

 For the Women’s Studies Minor, students complete 6 courses, totaling 18 credits.

  • Required Courses:  6 Credit Hours

    • WMST 499 Independent Study Capstone Project
